CORE Industrial Partners (“CORE”), a private equity firm investing exclusively in lower middle market manufacturing, industrial technology and industrial service companies, was in need of an inspiring space to accommodate its growth. BIG was tasked with bringing its vision, designed by Huntsman Architectural Group, to life with custom elements that reflect the CORE’s industrial focus, core values, and portfolio companies. ⁠

The BIG team, led by Marty Powers and Chris Evans, worked alongside custom fabricators, including several CORE portfolio companies, and brand consultants, to execute surprising and striking moments across the project, from wall decals to millwork. A custom reception desk and feature wall create a statement as soon as you step into the space.

The reception desk is characterized by a striking perforated metal facade, manufactured by Cadrex, a CORE portfolio company. BIG conducted the assembly and in-house test fitting to ensure flawless installation of these standout features.

Maintaining sound quality and controlling noise transfer was integral to making this industrial-inspired space work for the client. BIG collaborated with an acoustician to evaluate and propose solutions to increase acoustical quality in the board room while maintaining design integrity. The use of double-layered glass in the conference room resulted in the project’s increased Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating.

The custom-built architectural features, branding, and acoustics were instrumental in bringing functionality and visual interest to this industrial-inspired space, resulting in a comfortable and vibrant place to work.
