Slalom Consulting renovated two floors of the AON Center to relocate their Chicago offices, and BIG Construction provided pre-construction and general contractor services to help them accommodate their recent growth. The buildout promotes a scrum environment within an open-office layout, with 19 collaboration areas, screened from the individual workstations by custom millwork dividing panels, and 42 meeting rooms of varying sizes. A large café is situated on each floor, ready to accommodate company gatherings with noise-dampening ceiling panels and feature woodwork dowel wall & ceiling components.
Slalom’s primary concern was to have construction costs identified quickly in order to get design finalized for construction to be completed in time for their mid-January move date. BIG addressed this request throughout the project, providing the GMP and responding to design change orders quickly. BIG also provided value engineering and design review for the HVAC system, electrical infrastructure, and feature millwork components in order to meet their budget all while maintaining the client’s required operational and aesthetic standards.
