Edwards Elmhurst Health

A bank turned health center, existing conditions required creative solutions to bring this space up to the stringent standards of a modern healthcare facility. BIG’s first task was tackling the removal of a large steel bank vault to accommodate the new program. Working alongside U.S Demolition, a Brokk Robot was used to carefully demolish the vault into pieces and remove it from the site. Without as- built plans, BIG strategized with the MEP trades to connect new and existing ductwork and plumbing, creating a seamless and cost-effective solution.

As a working health center, the BIG team ensured that day to day operations of a lab and exam room were not interrupted by construction in this occupied space.  The result is a functional, safe and accessible clinic for patients and healthcare professionals alike.
