Over the last three years, Grubhub has transformed their Chicago office into a brand-infused, versatile environment. First, BIG Construction completed a five-floor renovation, following a restack program. The existing open floor plan was redesigned to feature multi-use, adaptable spaces, including a lunch room and reception area which can be converted to a company-wide gathering space in less than 15 minutes. Themed conference rooms are named after foods, and nooks scattered throughout the office encourage employee collaboration in comfortable and unique spaces.
The second phase included a 30,000-square-foot, two-floor expansion and roof deck renovation. BIG managed an accelerated schedule to complete the roofdeck before winter conditions constrained construction, while phasing work on the floors to maintain client access. The outdoor space includes a pergola, bar and banquette seating. New pavers and perimeter guard rail were installed. The expansion includes a conference center and a lounge area with a living green wall as additional inspirational space for employees.
